Suzie, this one is for you.  When I was 7 years old, I went to Israel with my family for a couple of weeks.  While we were there, I had my first experience with the Speedo bathing suit.  Yesterday, I had my second.  While in Fortaleza Joe and I bought super tight Speedos, and during Carnival here in Salvador, we sported them.  Awesome.

The rest of Carnival was incredible, dare I say too much.  Last night (Feb 20th) was the last night of the festival and we bought the "abada" for Fatboy Slim.  Abadas are the t-shirts you have to buy to gain enterance into any given performance, their form of a ticket.  Fatboy Slim was pretty dissappointing, but nonetheless probably the biggest of all the shows put on.  This is the second year he's done Carnival and his presence here has caused a bit of controversy being that he's not a native  Brasileiro.  Other foreign artists have been Ziggy Marley and Bono A super small speedo

 .  They like to keep it in the family here.

Lastly, this Blog site offers services to accept donations so friends and family can give money to their loved one's traveling.  I'M NOT ASKING FOR DONATIONS FOR ME!! I figured if people can ask for donations for themselves, they can ask for donations for others as well.  My friends Suzanne and Linda Klein are volunteering for Make-A-Wish Foundation and I'm including the informaiton to make a donation if anyone feels so inclined.  No pressure, but they are super passionate about it and I'd like to support them in their efforts.

First of all, get that name pasted on the back of your jersey.

Now, I'm so bored at work here's a checklist for being fully assimilated into brazilian culture:

carnival--check
brazilian speedo--check
jungle people--check
learn portuguese--semi-check
beach volleyball tournament
basketball tournament
see futebol in Sao Paulo (corinthians or santos or sao paulo--go with brazilians for safety and dont wear Kaka jersey)
be the only gringos at a house party
drink smoothies and caiprinhas everday
get a girlfriend in every city
show the big lebowski to locals

the rubber hotdog.....
The speedo was gruesome--the pictures hardly do it justice. Go ahead and ratchet up the costume with the 'safety dog.'
