Where I stayed

Last night was a really rough night, worst than the night before. Van rocked all night (told you it was the wind).

Headed out from Dunedin just after 10am, towards Invercargill. Could see heaps of snow on the mountain tops, and there was ice on the roads. But thankfully did not hit any whilst driving.

We did not really have any plans, except to head towards Invercargill. When we got to Balclutha, we decided to take a scenic road option to get there. We drove for a bit and decided to take an old goat track to "Cannibal Bay". This was a hilly and windy road that led to a river mouth. Chased a few sheep along the road which was pretty funny, not the smartest of creatures!

After that we decided to head to the "most photographed waterfall in NZ", called Purakaunui Falls. This was really nice, but not sure about the title. Amazingly there must have been a hail dump thru there earlier, as some of the ferns still had ice in their base (see pic).

We left there and headed towards to coast, as some blog site we read said there was some another nice waterfall this way, and some good accommodation. So we set off, and drove until we hit the Whistling Frog Café and Holiday Park This is a nice little spot so we decided to stay here the night.
