Greeting from Awainatt Zbill,
Everything is going well here. I am finally used to the heat again...and the incessant sweating. Thankfully it still cools down a bit in the evenings, so sleeping isn't so bad. My house is way too hot to sleep comfortably, but my umbar (like a permanent tent) has proven to be a lifesaver. However, there is a family of chickens that seems to think I enjoy waking up at 5:00am, which I don't. I have convinced them this is the case through the use of my slingshot. There is also a cow that seems to be an insomniac, as she stands next to my head at about 2:00 every morning mooing. She surely wants food, but so do I, so she eventually gets the point and goes away.
We have been busy at the GMC. The generator is set up, and we moved all the computers into our classroom. The girls are all excited that we can now use our four computers at the same time...and so are we.
We also organized a tree planting. We taught the girls some basics about planting and explained what they would need to do with the seeds. We gave each girls five or six seeds of differing varieties of trees and the hope is that at least three of those will sprout. The plan is that the girls will donate one of their trees to the town, for planting around the mayors office or around the school, and that they will be able to keep the rest to plant around their homes. Hopefully we will see some results, because big shady trees would make a BIG difference here...
Other than that, not a whole lot else to report. The students have final exams this week, after which many people will be leaving town for either bigger cities or the countryside. Next week is our last week of official classes as well, but we will likely have informal sessions throughout the summer.
Check out the pics I uploaded. They are of our first computer class in the GMC!
