Well I am back to Aioun a bit earlier than expected, but for good reason... We are having the official opening of the Awaynatt Zbill GMC next week and to make this trip to take care of some loose ends.
All and all I think we are ready for the opening. It is not going to be anything spectacular, we just want all of the girls, their parents, the teachers, as well as the local government to have a chance to see and hear what we are doing and have the chance to ask us questions. We have arranged for a big tent to be set up, as well as a variety of refreshments to be served. We had invitations translated into Arabic and distributed them around to the girls and their families. In addition, the mayor, Jackie and I, and a few of the girls are going to give speeches.
After the opening, we are going to kick into gear and start diversifying our lessons with the mentors (up until now we have only been teaching English) and begin weekend classes with the younger girls.
Other than that, there is not much new to report. We think a handful of other PCVs are going to come to Awaynatt for the opening (which means fun), and we have all been planning a proper feast for Thanksgiving in Aioun, yeah!.
Check out these pictures from the ride to Aioun. You have not traveled until you have ridden in a compact car with seven people and a goat in the trunk.... Also, expect a few pictures form our opening in the weeks to come!
