Arrived in Arequipa from Nasca, and myself and a friend who I traveled with from Nasca bargined our way into this posh place. Did the rafting the next day, on the Rio Chile, which was good crack, Išve some videos on youtube from that here....

On the second day in Arequipa, we, 4 of us, took off on a 3 day treck of the Colca Canyon, the largest, deepest canyon in the world by all accounts. Tough going. After the first days treck, in the blazin sun, we arrived in this little village (3 families) deep in the cayon, and hit the hot springs to cool off the feet. We slept in these bamboo huts, comfy out, but sure I would have slept anywhere.

Got up the next day for more hiking, 5 hours over to the next village. Now, in fairness, I brought forever too much with me, so I was working off those Tuesday Specials at Apache pizza(, and those romantic trips to McDonalds Aoife!) good-o. we made it to the next village anyhow, and relaxed by the pool for the day, and stayed in these out houses again, after beating the locals at some prison rules five aside!
Next morning, up at 2;30am in the morning, and hiked in the dark up 1300km up the canyon to the top, before getting a well deserved breakfast. Now, I fell asleep at the table in the place where we got breakie, and was no good for the next 2 days. That altitude would get ya! So back I came from Colca canyon and got a night bus to Cusco where I┤d be doing the Inca trail.
