Well, its the end of my first week in Thailand.
Arrived in Bangkok on tuesday night and decided I hate bangkok by the end of wednesday. Lot's of Buddah's to see but most of them are very much the same, so once you've seen one you've seen them all. None as impressive as one in Hong Kong to be honest.
Decided to do a 3 day mini tour from sat - mon so booked at a tour agent that was in guide book. Was around £22 for 3 days of activites and accomodation for 2 nights. Got quoted closer to 100 pounds for same tour in a dodgy agent. Turned up at 7am ready to be picked up and was beginning to think it was perhaps too cheap when nobody turned up. 7.25 I eventually get picked up and head west to Kanchanaburi. Saw the bridge over the river kwai and the accomodation was a series of floating rafts on the kwai river. Beautiful.
Went swimming in river and went elephant riding which was great. Didnt go to the tiger temple though because apparently it's pretty much a building sight with chained up tigers and you can go touch them and get charged for a photo.
Met a swiss couple (Andrea and Manuel) on the trip who were very nice and I booked into the same guesthouse as them and we went out for dinner and a couple drinks.
Went for a Thai massage and a haircut today and whilst it was the best haircut i've ever had, the massage was painful and not very relaxing. 150 Baht for an hour. (about £2.70) Though I'm sure it will do some good later.
Staying in the Royal Hotel tonight which is a bit nicer than the river house but lacking in charm, relaxation and views. Tour begins with group meeting at 6pm tomorrow and then I'll be off towards cambodia thursday morning. Looking forward to it very muchly.
