There are some beautiful little coastal towns here with interesting shops and drop-dead beautiful scenery. We have eaten some great fish and chips between our dreadful boring pasta meals, cooked on the camping stove at our campsites. One great thing about many of the campgrounds here are that they all have Bar b Ques and so we are able to grill chicken or something else to break up the monotony of pasta and spaghetti sauce laced with zucchini
As we approached the most famous part of the great ocean road we had a merciful day of tailwinds and we really flew, covering over 100K (about 70 miles) in just a morning. Unfortunately we broke a spoke coming into Port Campbell and then got hit by the storm of the century ( well not quite) but torrential rain, 40 MPH winds and hail. We chucked the tent, rented a cabin and waited out the storm for two days. Mike had trouble getting the cassette off the wheel and ended up hitchhiking back to a town with a bike shop to get it fixed. He spent three hours in the howling rain and sleet trying to get a ride.
