A busy day doing not a lot, just the
usual bits and pieces whilst waiting for the visa. Slept longer this
morning, must have been all that walking up and down hills.
Got the visa for Mali today. Then went
to the Cote d'Ivoire ( the new name for the Ivory Coast). Here we
were told this time that we had to have a hotel booking and so drove
back to the camp to get online and found a hotel and booked it
had asked if both had to return and were told just one. When Mike got
there with the hotel booking he was told I had to be with him so once
again it was a quick dash back to the camp to collect me and back to
the embassy. This time we had to have our fingerprints and photo's
taken and fill in another questionnaire. This was then successful and
we were told we could collect the visa's on the 19th.
Walked and found the embassy of Ghana
where we asked about a visa. Initially we were told” no you have to
get it in your own country.” Mike actually knew this already and so
asked if we could see the Charges d'affaire himself
wait he came to see us and was very pleasant, after explaining what
we wanted and the fact that we had been away from UK for too long to
get it there he agreed we could get it and so we have to take the
paperwork to them on Thursday. We then walked back with a small
stroll around the local shops, boy does it smell! It is not quite as
bad as central Dakar, but the traffic fumes still are bad enough to
make the whole smoggy. Although the camp is not up to much it is by
the sea which keeps the air a bit clearer. As you can tell nothing
really exciting yet just pay and wait and wait.
Heavy rain last night for the first
time and it is still pretty wet today so reading and stitching to
keep occupied, meanwhile Michael has been on the computer to find a
hotel in Ghana. What a palaver this is.
Visa day! We got the Ivory Coast visa
today so that is very good but when we took the paperwork to the
Ghanain embassy we were told it would not be ready until the 23rd.
Working out what to do next we had a walk along the seafront, it was
not too hot at 25C, quite pleasant in fact.
