23rd - Just a short walk along the beach and then back via the town to see it all. It is quite a nice town although very much tourist orientated. The only real problem was the lack of paved roads, to get around you are walking through a couple of inches of mud. The town also tends to operate from dark to 3AM so is a bit noisy.
Bit of a shock this morning, the guard came over with a note saying we had to pay $40 for staying the 2 nights. Mike went in and complained and then it shot down to $20 for the two nights, this he did not mind paying although again we think it was just a scam by the receptionist. Anyway we set of for Playa Tamarindo, supposedly a nice beach area. On arrival we asked directions to get to the campsite, the chap happened to be American and said that that area was not particularly safe and to turn and go to the beach where we were and we would be able to park on his fathers grounds. It is actually a huge area with rental cabins, but there is room for us to park up OK. The last bit of the route was in torrential rain although it has cleared up this afternoon and so we can have a short stroll on the beach. We checked whether we could get along the coast road in this weather and where advised it is not possible so we are also changing our ideas a bit and working out where to go next.
