Back in Hanoi - Cooking up a feast....

Arrived back in Hanoi after our Ha Long bay trip and decided not to go back to the same hotel.... we'll miss those rats but I think we will cope.  Sunshine 2 hotel was perfect as it had it's own internet in the room didn't seem to have any rodent friends and we soon relaxed by booking ourselves onto a Vietnamese cooking course at a nearby restaurant.  None of the menus inspired us much but the fact we could eat on this one along the way was a good selling point.  If you are coming to Vietnam and want to do a cooking course then I would suggest doing them in Hoi An as the menu choices are a lot better and much cheaper.

The course started by going along to the local market to buy all of the ingredients and then back to the restaurant to cook up a veritable feast Local Market

.    Spring rolls with shrimp, peppers, bean sprouts, spring onions and mushrooms, followed by some fish dish in a marinated sauce (forget what it was now) and then some rice dish that didn't really inspire us both that much.  Best part of the course was of course the eating.... yum yum.

We then did a last few bits of shopping including buying some North Face bags for $10 which obviously means that they are fakes but you couldn't notice the difference.  Besides we needed another day sack for going on our trek when we arrive in Laos.

Vietnam is a great country to visit with lots of sights to see and many a bargain to be had.  The people are warm and friendly and there is lots of culture, scrummy food and atmosphere to experience.  Definitely a favourite place of ours but after two weeks here we are both ready to move on to the next country.

Onward to laid back Laos....
