Having just landed in the most polluted, dirtiest and over populated city that we have both ever stepped foot in you just can't help but fall in love with the place. Full of colour, vibrancy and an air of madness that makes you feel welcome in a strange sort of way....

Got in a taxi after being sold too by numerous touts and rickshaw drivers and headed for the hotel. Passing hotels that resembled the top 4 star and 5 star hotels back home we were hopeful, after Mish's extensive search on the internet earlier in the week, that ours would be the same. However, upon arrival the outside looked like it had been hit by a giant pot of French mustard with telephone wires and craters all over it. Looks were deceiving though as we entered and walked across the marble covered lobby just past the fountain and right next door to the indoor swimming pool.  Very friendly staff and promises of being the only eco-friendly hotel in Mumbai we soon relaxed Mumbai Madness
Mumbai Madness
.

A quick power nap and we both soon headed out for some Mumbai madness and thought about heading to Leopolds to taste the flavours and scenery from Shantaram. After discussions with the lobby we soon changed plans as to drive the 10 mile journey was going to talk 4 hours in the peak rush hour traffic!!! So can we wait for the traffic to die down??? It doesn't until 10pm.... Give that one a miss then. Instead we headed for a recommended curry place which turned out to be one of the best curries ever....all the flavours and textures we were anticipating bubbled from inside our mouths to leave us with thoughts of returning to Mumbai again some time in the future.....

To the airport in the morning and the first Misha blonde moment when we arrived at the Mumbai international airport for a domestic flight.... Good job taxis are cheap here as after a £4 taxi ride across Mumbai we arrived at the domestic airport.... Strange as it seemed nicier than the international airport...a lot nicer. Things are looking up..... short flight across to Chennai to catch a connecting flight to Colombo, the flight attendants saw fit to upgrade Mr Fetters.......without him even asking.....but without a one Miss Bakshi.... Serves her right for a) not changing her name before we left and b) having a common surname in India (no offence Bakshi family, their words not mine). But like the true gentlemen Mike refused to go without his wife ( hee hee still makes me laugh). Insisting on moving Mike to 1st class they indeed repented and upgraded Mrs Bakshi after convincing them that she was his wife... Treated like a queen and king we sipped champagne (wine for Mish) and took in the breath taking views as we flew down into Sri Lanka......the first of our sunshine soaked and beach bum relaxing days were before us.........or were they??
