Rolled into McCook a little before dinnertime. There, we met our boss' parents, the McCarty's. Mrs. McCarty made a fantastic pot roast for dinner. That's Kelsey's favorite meal... it's almost as if someone told them?

So, we sat down for dinner around 6:00, and we didn't really leave the table until about midnight! We talked for that whole time about all sorts of things... Camfel-related stories, their family and all the marriages that have been happening, our future job situations, we even talked a good deal about Noah's Ark and creationism. In short, they were wonderful hosts with a comfortable guest room, and they welcomed us back anytime we're thruough McCook. And we may very well take them up on that offer at some point.

That wasn't all McCook had to offer, though! No, before we headed out of town the next morning, Mr. McCarty invited us to come eat at the restaurant his family owns. They run Mac's Drive-In. If you've even been to Sonic, then you have an idea of what it looks like. But Mac's is better, we decided, for a couple reasons. First, the atmosphere is more retro, like you've stepped back forty or fifty years. Second, there's indoor seating. You aren't sequestered to your vehicle in the cold winter months where you either burn $20 worth of gas idling and staying warm, or turning off the car and freezing while you eat your onion rings. However, even though you can choose to eat inside, you don't lose the drive-in feel if you do. At each table is a phone, and you can phone in your order to the kitchen. They'll take your order, whip it up, and you'll be paged when it's ready to be picked up. Cool! And finally, the food's great. They're known for their burgers of all kinds--beef, steak, and pizza (yes, the pizza burger). And their onion rings, a local specialty, are made fresh each day.

So thank you, McCarty's, for your hospitality and onion rings!

That night, we had to get our oil change (we were already a little past due). So we stopped in Cheyenne. From previous research, we found that the mall we'd visit had a movie theatre, and "The Dilemma" was playing at 4:05. By the time we dropped off our van and found the theatre, it was about 4:25. But we decided to see it anyway. So we bought our tickets--and they were half-off! Some great deal that day. Then we walked into the theatre, and a preview was still playing! So we didn't even miss a bit of the movie! That was great :)

We enjoyed the movie, by the way. It stars Vince Vaughan and Kevin James, and it's about the dilemma of what to do when you discover that your best friend's wife is cheating on him. It was funny at times, but it gave a fair and serious treatment of the subject. Vince Vaughan's latest movies--this one, and Couple's Retreat--though I wouldn't recommend them to everyone, certainly do raise some great questions and conversations about relationships. They both highly value marriage and fidelity, and it's good to see those values come through on the big screen.

Well it's apparently been a day for reviews!

Next we're moving on through to Wyoming to spend a night in Laramie, then onward to Salt Lake City. Hard to imagine that at the beginning of this week we were in the middle of Iowa...
