Las Vegas, check. Hoover Dam, check. This day marked the third and final thing that we wanted to do last year, but we were unable to do. You may remember that we drove over 100 miles to see Four Corners Monument last spring, but it was closed that one day for construction.
Fortunately, this time around, it was only 12 miles round trip off our route.

We pulled into Four Corners Monument with the understanding that the fee was $3 per car, but soon discovered it's really $3 per person. Okay, no problem.

The monument is surrounded by wooden market stalls, where Navajo merchants can sell their wares of jewelry, pottery, trinkets, and food. It would be cool, except there were no merchants when we were there. We weren't sure if we just arrived at the wrong time, or if merchants just don't frequent the monument any more. Either way, the market stalls just blocked our view of the 360 degree panorama.

We took some classic pictures with the monument--all four limbs in each state, standing right in the middle... pictures you simply have to take in such a place. But once we got our pictures, we were pretty much done. As we walked back to the van, other families were arriving, directing each other through the same pictures just as we had done. "Put your hands and feet in each state!"
"No, you should put your foot right in the middle of them" "It's Twister time!!!"

Classic. And then we pulled out and continued our drive.

Four Corners--worth pulling over for if you're in the area. Not worth going over a hundred miles out of your way.

Our pictures are attached--enjoy :)
