Seems like when we started this semester in Texas, we just could not get down to San Antonio. Our routes would take us in and through everywhere but this city. Lately, however, we can't avoid it. When we first arrived in San Antonio, if you remember, we toured the missions and the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and the King George district. But ever since that full weekend, we haven't felt the need to really get out and sightsee the city every time we've come through.

This weekend was a much-needed long weekend. Ever since coming back from New Hampshire, our weeks and weekends have been full of driving up to the southern tip, up to the northwest corner of New Mexico, and back. Crazy. But here, we had four nights in one place, and four days of non-work. Sure, we had to get our oil changed, but that just gave us an excuse to go to the mall!

We found a Holiday Inn Express under budget through Hotwire. They have a great breakfast in the morning, but no fridges or microwaves (the downside of getting any 3-stars or above). So we had to fend for ourselves the rest of the day. TGI Friday's was within walking distance, as was Applebee's.
And it was a joy to walk. The weather was beautiful. Kelsey spent a lot of time down by the pool, catching some sun.

We did have to go to the mall while we waited for our oil to be changed. We hadn't been to a mall in so long, because the rest of the places we've been in Texas for our oil changes haven't been big enough for malls. We've just been able to find Walmarts--and that's not the most comfortable place to spend an hour and a half. In the mall, we ate some pretzels and did some people-watching. Kelsey bought me an early birthday gift at the Crocs store. She bought me a pair of flip-flops that have extra-durable pads on the underside of each the pressure-points on the foot. They also have great arch-support--a rarity for flip-flops. So I look forward to having a nice summer sandal that won't kill my already-weak feet.

All in all, it was a nice restful long weekend!
