There was also an outlet mall nearby, where we spent an entire evening doing some early Christmas shopping.
Across the street was a little lunch cafe. Their sandwiches were wonderful, and they offered a nice atmosphere in which to play cards and talk.
Next door to the cafe was also a paint-your-own-pottery studio. We stayed and painted pottery for nearly five hours! It was -so- good to do something creative. We found that creativity is a muscle that needs to be used and stretched. I personally had a very hard time getting started. And when I did finally begin to paint, my mind started to think of more and better ideas--but unfortunately, it was too late, since I had already started painting my teacup for Kelsey. But just that simple act of painting that cup got me thinking more creatively than I had in a while. Kelsey and I agreed how good it felt to have a creative outlet. Our job gets so routine, and hotel rooms provide such little stimulation, that our creativity muscle gets kinda atrophied at times. This afternoon at "Poke-A-Nose" Pottery was a refreshing chance of pace.
And, we came out with some custom Christmas gifts :) (We won't say for who)
