Anyway, we had never been to New Jersey before. And what we had heard, for the most part wasn't positive. We heard about aggressive drivers, confusing road, bizarre driving laws...
Eh, all true.
The school was rather stressful, too. You see, our presentation consists of three huge screens on stage, and three projectors on the floor showing the video on them. Of course, the projectors have to be a certain distance from the screen. Well, once the screens are set up, the only way to adjust the projection is to either use the zoom feature on the projector, or move the projector closer or further from the screen. Unfortunately, even at full zoom, our projection wasn't big enough. We had to move the projector tables back. Even more unfortunately, "back" meant moving these four-legged projector tables into the seats. And more unfortunately, the seats were fold-down theatre-style seats which are immovable and incredible awkward to navigate.
As we were struggling with getting the projectors level and at the right angle and height, they started sending kids into the auditorium a half-hour early! We were stressed enough as it was, and running out of time. Technical difficulties, without the ability to run a sound-check, and a less-than-perfect line-up (more about that in a later entry, I'm sure) made starting the video an uncertain endeavor.
Actually, we didn't start the video until about 20 minutes into the start of the assembly. It was the first day of school, and the administration had to conduct their informative meeting while we sat there waiting to start the video.
Since this blog is public, and you never know who might be reading, I'll spare more details about the frustration of the assembly, but in sum, we were just ready to leave the school. But the show went on. There's always gonna be a tough school. This was just our first.
We were ready to leave New Jersey and head to our hotel in Maryland. Kelsey booked us a Sheraton for three nights! Refreshment was on it's way...
