We LOVED this driving day.  The Eastern half of Utah was beautifully carved with such a variety of mountains.  We pulled over at a few overlooks off the highway.  It is the "out west" we'd always wanted to see.

When we got into Colorado it only got better.  Every turn through the mountains offered a new a glorious view.  It never got old.  I-70 followed the Colorado RIver as we wound our way through the Rockies.  The variety in shapes and colors and landscapes was breathtaking.

A favorite part of our trip was stopping in Denver.  We visited Kelsey's cousin who lives there and went to dinner with her good friend Kevin.  "Suprise!  I'm in Denver!  Whatchya doin tonight?"

Expedia and TomTom failed us when it came to lodging for the night.  We knew something was wrong when we passed a sign at midnight saying: "WARNING: Correctional Facility - Do not stop for hitchhikers"  Creepy.

All turned out well and we slept finally in a bed for the night in Sterling, CO.  And we have sworn off using Expedia.

Visiting relatives
Nice to visit with relatives as you are traveling. They weren't from the Correctional Institution were they? ;-)
