We had traditional Argentina breakfast which consists of bread from dinner from the night before with preservatives and Dulce De Leche for spread. Compliment that with fruit and a homemade tart with two flavors; membrilla preserves on one side and sweet potato on the other. Awesome!
Shut up Patti, we like to talk about food.
We hung around and then took the new 6 month old German Shepherd puppy Leo out for a long walk and some famous Mike and Harmony dog training. He needed it as he is pretty rambunctious.
Later we went to the markets. Yes, markets. In Argentina, you have to go to like 12 stores to get all of the ingredients one needs to make dinner. While we were out, Mario decided to visit an acquaintance unannounced. We stopped by the bakery and picked up a dozen faturas (the best assortment of pastries you will ever eat). We showed up at the door and within 10 minutes we had tea, coffee, pastries, etc as if we were invited in the first place. This was an excellent and spontaneous example of the hospitality you should expect in South America. People down here are so warm and friendly. They treat you like family as soon as they meet you. Yes, even dudes kiss each other on the cheek. Shut up Mark and Dad.
That night Mario made us pizzas from scratch which were excellent! Maria´s daughter Luciana and her husband Santiago joined us for some great company. We ate at the normal time, around 10:30, and then hung out and drank until after 1am. Good times....
