We actually had an awesome lunch of fresh salad with choices of about 30 different amazing ingredients that we chose ourselves and handed our bowl to the lady so she could finish making the salad.
I know, I talk too much about food.....Patti.
Landed in Frankfurt (again) around 5pm and we parted ways.
I made my way to the airport train station and boarded my first 6pm train. These trains in Germany are amazing, clean, on schedule, etc.
Made it to Wurzburg around 7:30pm and had 10 minutes to find my next train on a different track. Made it....
Got to Steinach around 8:30pm, washed and repeated and made it to my final train.
Made it to Rothenburg ob der Tauber train station around 8:50pm. It was about 20 degrees out so I decided to walk the 1/2 mile to my hotel.
I read all about this town but certainly didn't expect what I came across. The entire town is surrounded by what must be a 20-30 foot tall wall. Think castle, moat, etc and you will picture this. Every 1/4 mile or so there was a guard tower. All along the wall there were small slots for the archers to put their bows through and shoot at the invaders. Awesome!
I walked through a massive archway and down a picturesque cobblestone street to my hotel.
The hotel is called Romantik for a reason. It is amazing. It is literally older than America as it was built around 1470. It has so much charm and character. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Here are some pics of my room which I definitely think is one of a kind, as all the rooms must be:
Finished some work emails and crashed for the night to get ready for the next day.
Happy Birthday Mom!
