Another day of rainy weather along the coast.  Oh yeah, the map shows that we are in Portland, however that is incorrect.  We are taking the Pacific Coastal Highway (aka Highway 101) and unfortunately the travel pod system does not recognize anything beyond major cities.  The coastal highway is slow going, but the scenery is breathtaking.  So much so that we decided to pull over for lunch where we could overlook Willapa Bay...sure beats lunch behind an office desk.
From there we headed into Oregon and to our first beach at Cannon Beach.  This time the rain could not put a damper on us.  We embraced the beach as if it were mid-August and packed with sunbathers.  From there we headed past Geraldineville...okay, the "G" really stands for Garibaldi....but I think there's a chance they got it wrong.
And then the weather really kicked into gear.  We were all of a sudden in 75 mph winds, the sun was hidden behind the ominous clouds and our '79 wipers couldn't seem to keep up with the amount of water they were being bombarded with.  The scariest part was crossing over the bridge to Waldport.  The cross winds were insane and our visibility was slim to none.  I gotta tell ya, there was a lot of breath-holding going on and we only thought to take a video after the fact (which will obviously not do it justice, but will give you an idea).
