Well...what can I say...this entry is mainly here to put another pin on our route map (to avoid the horrible moral dilemma created by giving people an incorrect impression of our route - we strive for accuracy and truth at all times!).
Anyway ... so the news is ... we stayed overnight in Cordoba. As it was only a brief stop over we opted for the dorm option, as opposed to the private room of our previous visit. We've been staying mainly in dorms but have chosen private rooms when the price as been low enough. Cordoba was nice, again, although different. We arrived on a Sunday and so many of the streets were deserted and not much was open - although not with the same eerie weirdness of the Twilight Zone. On arrival we actually thought that our hostel was on a very quiet and therefore unimportant side street. But when we stepped out on the Monday morning we were greeted by a full-on street market with hordes of people and bussle
Other observations:
Evidence would suggest that virtually all of the Aussies that we've met while in South America have whole-heartedly signed up to the stereo-type - particularly in regards to their love of beer. The Aussies in our Intrepid group drank it more than water (although that was a situation helped by the fact that in Brazil beer was often cheaper than soft-drinks). In Cordoba there were also a number of Aussies in the hostel. The evening of our departure 2 of them wondered in after being in town and were chatting to the guy at the reception. The third member of their party had been waiting for them in the hostel an on their arrival was trying anxiously to get there attention - "Hey! Can you book us a taxi to the bus station while you're there!" The two at the reception desk seemed oblivious but the third guy was obviously nervous about missing their bus to Mendoza which left shortly. Eventually the two wondered through and on being asked again to book the taxi replied, "Sure mate, no problem, but do you think we have time to grab another beer before we go" (much to the third guys frustration). And so it seems that this is the norm.We might have to wait until we arrive in Australia before we're able to prove the stereo-type wrong.
That's about all there is to say about that ... see you soon.
