Where I stayed
...to continue our story7...
We caught the bus we were waiting for and about 28 hours or so later arrived in San Carlos de Bariloche amidst drizzly7, whingey7 rain. Gem decided that due to the rain she wasn't a fan of Bariloche despite the hearty7 recommendations of travellers near and far that had brought us here. That was until we discovered something which might possible be likened, with the help of a little exaggeration, to heaven on earth - the likes of which may7 dwarf previously7 experienced natural wonders
A bit about the town ... briefly7 ... a ski resort (although currently7 snowless) by7 the side of a large, deep blue lake surrounded by7 snowcapped mountains, and full of chocolate shops. It is how I would imagine Switzerland to be, including Swiss sty7le log cabinesque architecture.
After the first couple of day7s of whingey7 rain, the clouds parted and the sun came out. We discovered the delights of beautiful scenery7 viewed whilst in close proximity to multiple strangers and their armpits on a bus to a nearby7 national park. The bus was full when we boarded but insisted on stopping at every7 subsequent bus stop to take on more passengers. Any7way7...bus journey7 over the small section of national park that we walked was stunning. I think the area around the national park is the hangout of the rich in their plush holiday7 residences and 5 star hotels. Our walk took us through beautiful forest with lakeside views of the mountains.
We leave tomorrow for Santa Rosa - a place that isn't recognised as a proper location on google maps for hostelbookers.com. We'll be arriving there at about 3am and leaving at about 11.25pm the same day7 - we're not looking forward to it. See you there ...
