On Thursday we set off in the sunshine after a breakfast of fried tomatoes so that they would be finished before crossing into WA. It was just before Penong that we drove through patches of heavy mist and we could hardly see the windmills as we passed through the town. At least eating all the raw carrots before the border should have helped Mike see the road through the mist.

Throughout the morning  mallee trees dominated the landscape and it was only
over a stretch of about 180 kms from the Nullarbor Road House to Border Village where
there are really no trees.

In the afternoon we reached Eucla safely and this is our  stop for the night  just over the border in WA.  The WA quarantine is the most stringent and the border control guy looked in every cupboard in the caravan and every part of the car to see if we had hidden any fresh South Australian fruit or vegetables, he found nothing!

Now we are back in our homestate of Western Australia it is time to wind our clocks back one and half hours. We did not unhitch the van for the night as we wanted to leave early in the morning and after a good shower we cooked our evening meal and cleaned up before hitting the sack. Due to the time difference it seemed that we had an early night, but we were really ready for it after a long drive.
