Days at the beach, shortest blog ever!!
So this is going to be the shortest blog yet because I really had three days of the most relaxing sun I have ever been in.
I heard about this little town on the coast of The Netherlands by the people that I rode over from Vancouver with. They said that there wasn't much to it except they do have a very nice beach.
An hour train ride, and an half an hour bus took me to this little town of NOORDWIJK. When I stepped off the bus the sun hit my jeans and I started to swelter, PERFECT I THOUGHT!!! I checked into my hostel and made a run for the beach. I literally didn't spend more then about 10 minutes getting organized. The sun was shining and I didn't know for how long it was going to last. The beach was about 10 miles long and really crowded with people but that was the last thing on my mind. I walked down the beach looking for a place where the crowd had thinned out and layed out the towel. I was stationed there for about 5 hours in the hot 30 degree sun and I was feelin' pretty damn good. The thing that was missing was the sunglasses that I had lost in Paris but at least I wasn't going to get Racoon eyes. I took a quick dip in the North Sea. It was salty to be expected and the surf was incredible. It almost felt like being on the beaches of Maui but not really. The water was cold, but really refreshing. I had been warned about the current in the sea (thanks mom) so up my waist is all I went (I promise, wink wink).
I headed back to the hostel, found a bite to eat at a little restaurant and sat and watched the sunset. I was dissapointed that I didn't have anyone there to share this special day of relaxation. See, the people at the hostel had a lot on their minds and it wasn't working on their tan. Pot and mushrooms are legal in The netherlands and that is all they wanted to do.
I asked the girl at the reception if there was anything to do in the city and she replied that she thought there might be a museum but had no idea where it was. I bet she could tell the number of the local drug dealer though.
I crashed early because I was tired and burnt. I was sleeping in a 20 person dorm and it was as good as you can imagaine. I used to sleep so well at home, nothing would get me up! An elephant could run through my room and I would stay passed out. Since I have been on the raod, I haven't had one night yet without waking up!! Sometimes due to the people sometimes due to the new environment. In this hostel, it was the people. They were coming in and out on 10 minute intrevals. It was frustrating but you try and roll over and fall back to sleep!
If you want to know what I did the next day read this blog again!! I repeated everything, not much else to do!! The only thing I changed was I went and got sunscreen because I was really burnt from the day before. (Well worth it though) Sat on the beach, watched a sunset and thats about it!!
The third day was not that much more exciting except I threw in the search for a pair of sunglasses. Took me a good part of the afternoon but my quest was successful.
They had the sand sculpture constest on so that was really fun to watch. The theme this year was all Disney Movies, Little mermaid, Alice in Wonderland, Tinkerbell, ect.
In conclusion, I wanted a couple of days to unwind, chill out and relax and I definally got it. I felt great and ready to hit the road again.
Next stop was ZOMMER CARNIVAL in Rotterdam...............

Sounds beautiful
I wish there were some photos though...
It's too bad when people let drugs overshadow their experience of a place. I'm glad you didn't let it happen to you.
