Mom brought my favorite babka cake so we made coffee and enjoyed a pleasant visit. Jakub and Mom have been friends for ten years or so, but they seem like an old married couple. She lets him think he is smarter than he is and he lets her tell silly stories laughing at all the right moments. What a pair! They stayed for about an hour, then mom announced that she had to decorate the church for two weddings, and it was time to go
The day was hot, but Marek and Vanya had some more work to do organizing wood in the yard. Vanya has found a Czech radio station that plays his type of music and was blasting it for all the forest creatures to hear. When the guys were sweaty and dirty enough it was time for a lunch break. Everyone enjoyed my pickle soup and "lazy dumplings" with cheese and sugar. I voted for taking a nap afterwards but I was outvoted by the pool fanatics who wanted to regenerate their tired muscles in the Jacuzzi. I decided I could take a nap anywhere and joined the crowd.
The pool is on the Czech side, in Boh˙min, only about 15 minutes from here. European Union makes it easy for its members to travel from country to country. No more check points, no more passports, or annoying, overzealous border guards. You do have to have some kind of identification on you because Czech policemen often stop and ask for it, and believe me, if you don’t have it there is no discussion, only a 5000 Čk fine. Not worth risking…
The prices at the pool are ridiculously low since for 3 hours there you pay an equivalent of $4
Tired by all the fun and the sun, we fed the menagerie, watched a bit of TV, and retired to beds early. I couldn’t sleep since there were only ten pages left to read in my book. Only after I finished them I could peacefully travel to the land of dreams.
