In between the deliveries, I served cold beverages and snacks to the workers and of course took pictures to document their efforts
Exhausted does not begin to describe how everyone felt. Showers and cold drinking water put them back on their feet and we decided to take a little trip to the Czech side of the Odra River. The evening was warm and lovely. We walked the banks of the river, while Marek checked out if there are any fish in it. He thought he might go early in the morning to catch something for a Friday supper. Unfortunately, halfway through our walk we found a sign informing us that the whole area was protected and no fishing was allowed. Bummer… We cheered ourselves up with a visit to a Czech grocery store. I like to practice my Czech because I get so few opportunities to do so in the States and the store is a perfect place for small talk. I also had to get some Cofola, my favorite Czech soft drink. In times of Communism, each Eastern European country came up with its own version of Cola and a ridiculous name for it. Poland had its Polo-Cocta, but the Czech Cofola tastes much better. This year it celebrates its 50th year so I got a commemorative bottle too.
In good moods, we returned home and after watching only one episode of our favorite "Dr. House" everyone said good night. Marek decided his bones hurt too much and he needed a good-night sleep, instead of rising early to fish. Ania couldn’t have been happier to hear that!
