Mom took Tymek to church and as soon as they came back ("How was church, Tymek?" Tymek: "Booooring!" Mom: “He liked it a lot!” “Which one is it, Tymku?” Tymek: “I slept the whole time!”) we went to vote for the next president. I had to bribe Tymek with Legos ® to get him to throw the completed ballot into the urn. Later he thought it was great!
Waiting for the rain to stop, I watched more World Cup soccer. The weather is horrible! Don't get me wrong, I hardly miss the heat and humidity of Virginia, but the constant overcast, rain, and cold are becoming a nuisance.
One can only sit and eat for so long
I could tell that Tymek was slipping into a slight depression, listening to a boring performance from Lvov singers, so we escaped quietly and took a turn on the bumper-car track. What fun! Nothing makes you feel younger than a bunch of giggling kids ramming into your car with theirs. Tymek came back to life and even laughed out loud. Mission accomplished!
To make the moment last I took him to our new pizzeria for his favorite pepperoni pizza. Unexpectedly, the best part of the dinner was a wonderful conversation we had. He is a smart little boy who always asks very poignant questions and thinks things through very carefully. Each story seems to only whet his appetite for more. I had to tell him a scary story before bed and got a big, warm hug in return.
Finally, I cuddled with my Nook under my childhood comforter and read, read, read… Life is good!
