Woke up extremely early, at 4:00 am, in order to start trekking up the mountain to Machu Pichu in time to catch the sunrise at top.  It was approximately an hour and 45 minutes to reach the top.  When we arrived, our guide gave us a 2 hour guided tour about all of the rich history of the ancient ruins. After the guided portion of the tour I climbed the Machu Picchu mountain.Returned back to Aguas Calientes to catch the return train to Ollanta and then the bus to Cusco. Arrived to Cusco at 22:00.

Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu! The Lost city of the Incas! One of the best places to go in the world! Everyone who has the opportunity to travel should pay a visit to this place. Not so much for the archeological ruins, which are indeed amazing, but for the whole nature experience. The setting, in high mountains, in the clouds and the breathtaking views simply give you a feeling not easily matched! The experience you have with the nature, mountains, rivers, valleys, is unreal. I guess is what the indigenous local people call the connection with earth and nature itself and how we are part of this nature.

Machu Picchu was basically a place where the Inca would go with his followers to rest and a ceremonial center. It was also functioning as a school for the children of the nobility. But it was not a city. There were only a few rooms for the Inca.

The Inca empire only lasted around 100 years and

No archeological, valuable items were found at the site. It was rediscovered in a way, the Quecha people (the people of the Inca) always new about it, by the American Hiram Bingham in 1911. It was built around the 15th century ac, not that long ago.

One of the amazing things of the site is  the engineering that was used to built it.
