Relaxing by the river

We had heard great things about Cesky Krumlov and weren't disappointed. It is a charming old town situated on a bend in the Vlatva River and although we had seen many medieval towns by this stage, the serene natural setting won us over. The town boasts a large castle and mini Versailles style garden but the main attraction is canoeing or rafting down the river past forested mountains and down the occasional rapid. It also helped that we stayed in the nicest european hostel thus far (Merlin's). We lazed around here for a few days contemplating our next destination. The mountains and cities of Austria were tempting but the coast beckoned....
