Phuket is tourist central, catering for everyone from families and couples to old fat men seeking a 'good time'! After being blown away by the beaches, not because they are anything special but because they are filled with beach chairs, umbrellas and row after row of tourists, we hit the main tourist beach of Patong for a few hours of 'tourist watching'. The number of Thai girls trying to attract customers to the bars and the number of men drinking with their Thai 'girlfriends' was really quite amazing. Unfortunately it was hard to distinguish between the genuine thai/european couples and the date-for-a-night couples, which made it hard to not stereotype.

Escaping the town we spent a fantastic day kayaking around Phang-Nga Bay National Park and being spoilt with delicious food. We were taken through caves and tunnels under the limestone cliffs which were jutting hundreds of metres out of the ocean and into amazing caverns filled with turquoise water. We finished our time in Phuket with a day of diving, although this time the sea was a bit rougher and the underwater life not as prolific as off Ko Lanta.

Phuket is worth a visit for a day or two but we were glad to leave and take our VIP bus to Bangkok complete with Thai music videos and free dinner.
