03:30 Beijing: Crossed the International Date Line for the second time in my career. By doing that I have lost one day of my life that I will never get back. Just about a month earlier I was crossing the Prime Meridian over Algeria in Northern Africa.
06:30 Beijing: Shot an ILS to minimums in Petropavlovsk, it was difficult to understand the Russian controllers, throw in flying in meters, and QFE (Altimeter setting above field elevation.) It ranks up there in one of the 5 most difficult approaches I've ever done.
After landing we were met by an entourage of military and civilian personnel. After Customs and Immigration did their thing on the airplane I was taken to the airport operations and meteorology department for a pre-departure briefing. We then departed after a 45-minute stay on the Russian Kamchatka Peninsula.
