All went to plan getting to Heathrow although we couldn't believe it as the first traffic news we heard of the day informed us that the A12 was blocked both ways at Galleywood.

Dave our regular airport taxi driver arrived ahead of time and whisked us round a virtually empty A12 and M25 in just over an hour.
We soon had the bags dropped off and were through security with a few hours in hand so there was only one thing for it Guinness time!

Suitably lubricated (well one of us) we settled down in the highly recommended A380 cattle class although using Mr Vickers advice I had pre purchased a seat with loads of legroom.

The theory was that after the dinner service I would drop off and wake up in Singapore but it didn't quite go to plan as Jan was chuckling so much watching Madagascar 3!

A quick pit stop in Singapore and we were soon on the final leg to Sydney. As I write this the sun is just popping over the horizon according to the sky cam and we have 55 minutes before touchdown.

Australia always amazes me so much space and wilderness. Then after three hours of near emptiness the first major signs of major conurbations appear. Out across Botany Bay line up on final approach and before you know it we are through customs on a train into the city then straight out on the West Sydney line to Richmond where Bluey and his junior sidekick Jackson were waiting at the end of the line. 5 minutes later and we are at our destination and base for the trip.

Bluey and Jackson had been following our whole trip on a brilliant App called Flightradar 24 check it out. It didn't take long before the app was on this iPad.

The weather is just as we expected ie hot and a bit humid simply great. The Wally rain didn't travel the same route as us and should arrive sometime tomorrow. Tried to FaceTime Max and Ellie but no luck there.

It's ten years since I was last in Londonderry and a few things have changed but not Blueys sense of humour or politics. I'm mean he didn't want to embarrass himself introducing a couple of smelly Poms to his mates up the river so he has built a mobile gas heated shower unit more details and pics to follow. But we will be towing it up to the Hawksbury tomorrow. I'm on my 4th stubbie writing this sitting outside on the verandah. Got to sign off now as the lure of Flightpath 24 is too much!
Oh and we are knackered.

Marie & Jim on

Hi Steve & Jan
Great to read about your trip over. You must be the only people who made it out of Heathrow!
As you say the dumb girl in the shop could not forget how you smell after a 50 mile ride!

Galf on

I won't start a dialogue, as you've got too many fun things to do than to read me, but your comment about being knackered brought me straight back to when Ann and I arrived in Aukland in time for dinner at the Best Western hotel after getting there the 'wrong' way (via Seattle, drive to LA, Honolulu, Fiji) which took us a week. At the hotel, the ex-pat chef came out to greet us, just as I fell asleep with my head in my pudding! Ann was embarrassed, but I was okay - I was asleep.
Now get on with YOUR life. Cheers Peter
