We finished our trip down the Murray through Lake Alexandra to where the Murray meets the sea.
I know have a lot better understanding of the issues that Adelaide and the lower part of the Murray are having with water. The salt issue is quite wide spread and the lower lakes are quite low. The are constantly pumping sand out of the Murray mouth to make sure that it doesn't close up.
We took a drive along a soft sandy beach for 10 km to see where the Murray meets the sea. ( quite magical to see where it all finishes after  starting 2,000 km + away in Victoria in the area where we snow ski) Rob had spent 7 months living on the river with his family travelling it length and says that 7 months is not enough. (maybe the next family adventure in years to come.)
