Where I stayed
Had breakfast in the hotel, it cost me $15! but it was worth it, cereal, juice, bacon, egg, sausage and toast with lots of coffee and more toast and marmalade. It lasted me all day! Got on the Internet at last and made a start on my travel blog. ($11.99 for 24 hours).
Felt guilty for not doing much today so I went to the gym for a 30 minute work out! Now putting back on the calories by tucking into a Surf & Turf washed down by a couple of beers! Booked for a Grand Canyon tour tomorrow so its early to bed as pick up time is 6 a.m.
Thursday 14th Jan 2010
Up at 5 a.m. to get a bite to eat before the coach picks me up. The diners in the casino are open all night. There were people still playing the tables or feeding the fruit machines as I got my early morning caffeine ration
First stop was the Hoover Dam which was quite impressive. Next stop was the West end of the Grand Canyon at the Hualapai Indian reserve at Eagle point. First sight of the canyon was mind blowing! Its over a mile deep in places with the Colorado river at the bottom. There was also some interesting Indian culture on show. I did the sky-walk which was a bit disappointing and a rip-off to boot. You are not allowed to take your camera on the sky-walk so they take pictures of you and try and charge you $20 a snap. The coach moved onto Guano Point and the views were even more stunning! We had lunch provided there and we sat outside enjoying the views.
It was a long day and I got back to the hotel at about 4:30 p.m. but it was a great day out and well worth it.
I haven't succumbed to the gambling bug - the only winners are the casinos - and it would upset me if I lost!
Oh and I even got to the gym again!
