Well we managed to negotiate the mini bus to fetiyeh (once again we managed to get the bus that did not have a/c) and prepared ourselves for a 4 days boat cruise along the medditeranean. After haggling with all the boat operaters (tourism is slow this year so everyone is vying for our business) we managed to settle on a cruise that was largely made up of Aussies and Kiwis. We thought this would not be such a cultural experience but we decided that it would be better to speak English to people for 4 days - if we went with the cruises largely made of turkish people, we would have had to speak to each other for 4 days while listening to the others talk away in Turkish. It turned out to be the best decision and we had a boat of 17 fantastic people. The mediteranean was amazing and the 4 days on the boat was really magnificant. The captian Ishmael was a bit of a sleeze - it took him about 10mins on the boat to find out I was married (actually the first words he spoke to me where 'you married?') and after this minimal conversation passed between us. He tried to spend most of his time speaking with the 'single lovely ladies' and when he realised no one was interested in him he soon became a right cranky tool. But aside from him (we did have a few chuckles at his pick up lines) the cruise was definately a highlight. ALl we did for 4 days was read, sleep, eat, drink, swim, fish, snorkel and play plenty of backgammon. I like to consider myself quiet the master at backgammon now.
