I was trying to think of all the interesting things I did while in Mui Ne and I came up with the following list:

1. sat on the beach
2. ate at the same restaurant almost every meal
3. drank beer

That about sums up Mui Ne.

Ok... I'll stretch it out a bit... Mui Ne is a beach resort town that consists of one long street. Most of the hotels are on the beach side and most of the restaruants, guesthouses and tour offices are on the opposite side. There is a fishing village some km's down from the main beach and beyond that are their famous sand dunes.

I stayed at a place called Indochina Dreams... they are these cute little stone bungalows along the beach... I got a beachfront one that I could have lived in for the rest of my life! It was right beside this kite surfing school so I got to watch all the cute boys out surfing all afternoon... what more could a girl ask for! Hmmm... maybe to be 20 years younger!

Stephanie and I hung out in Mui Ne for 2 1/2 days and seriously, we did eat at the same restaurant almost every meal! It was so good and very reasonable. The funny part was that we kept running into the same people there all the time... they didn't call it Popular Restaurant for nothing!!

The cool thing that I remember most about Mui Ne (aside from the kite surfers) is that every night the horizon out on the water would be full of boat lights... it reminded me of driving at night in the prairies with all the farm yard lights in the distance.

The first night in Mui Ne we had a thunderstorm. I was watching a movie on HBO and the power went out. I was too scared to get out of bed and go look for my headlamp so I just laid there. But everytime the lightning would strike the sky would light up and I had visions of dark figures outside my window at the door... damn I watch too many scary movies!!!

The next day we saw some interesting looking things at a food stall along the beach down the road (see photos!).

Our last night in Mui Ne we met Michelle (UK) & Steve (Aussie... engaged to Michelle) and Clayton (Aussie) & Brigit (also Aussie and Clayton's girlfriend... she left early to take their kid back to the hotel)... they were two couples that were at the Popular Restaruant every night also. We drank beer, laughed out of control and closed the place down that night.

The morning before we left I made a quick trip out to the sand dunes... it's a bunch of sand. :)
