01 Ain´t it cute.. wonder what it tastes like
Have to make a quick note about "cuy", a national dish here in Ecuador.First off.... "cuy" is Guinea Pig... yup... the furry little aminals that run around in little wheels in cages.
Before leaving home... I was like... "gonna eat that... definitely!!!"
03 Yummy, Yummy, in their tummies!
That was all fine in theory... but it all changed when we wandered past a marketplace where they were cooking them. On the open barbeque were 3 or 4 guinea pigs roasting away, now that´s no problem, the problem was that the formerly furry creatures´ four legs were up in the air, their heads back, buck teeth showing in all their glory... and the worst bit for me... their bellys sliced down the middle and all Stuart Little wannabees entrails still inside ... mmmm... yummy, yummy in THEIR tummys... not mine thanks very much!!!!There ended the "gonna eat that... definitely" speech.
Also... to eat one of the critters cost about 15 euros.... bugger that... you´d get a bucketload of food from the Eurosaver menu in McDonalds for that price.
