We were looking forward to fire and brimstone and loads of red hot lava...no joy!!!
The day that we arrived from Tamagringo it was piddling rain... and it continued for 3 days!
Theres a volcano around here some place you know ? We didnīt even get to see the thing for 3 days!
RANT TIME !
One thing that weīve noticed since our last trip, i.e. 4 years ago, is the amount of "backpackers" that are travelling with... LAPTOPS!!! What the heck is that about... imagine stuffing a laptop into your backpack! Crazy! Ok, Ok, there are reasons... ish, like wireless internet and things like that, but the majority of people go travelling in order "to get away from it all"... just donīt get it! Example...We decided to get a tourist shuttle from Tamagringo to La Fortuna, this guy squishes in next to us, flips out his laptop... plugs in his head phones and watches a DVD for the entire trip!!! He missed all the outstanding scenery that we were driving though and watched "The Fast and the Furious" instead... muppet!
It`s now time to make up some ground and get some flithy bus trips under our belts... first is a 5 hour trip to San Jose... then a 9 hour trip into David City in Panama and then a 7 hour bus trip to Panama City! It wonīt be too bad as we are going to try and spread it out over a few days!
Byeee!

10 Volcano at night when there´s no clouds
Eventually, on our third day in La Fortuna the clouds lifted and we got to see the volcano... it was massive... with a perfect cone on top too! Remember the guys from Newfoundland... well, didnīt we bump into them again, and we shared a taxi up to view the volcano at night. Even though it was cloudy, we still got to see red hot lava tumbling down the mountainside... it was really spectacular... a sight to remember !!It`s now time to make up some ground and get some flithy bus trips under our belts... first is a 5 hour trip to San Jose... then a 9 hour trip into David City in Panama and then a 7 hour bus trip to Panama City!
