I shouldn't be that happy to have set foot in a country that seemed remotely familiar - but the moment the lovely girl at the tourist office said 'can I help you' I knew I was going to like Ireland. We settled in to Temple Bar, the Dublin entertainment district. The first thing that hits you in Dublin is the number of pubs - apparently there is one for every four hundred people in Ireland. The second is the number of bookshops - great three story monstrosities with every possible book - got a love a country that loves literature and reading as much as the Irish seem to.

We got to town on a Monday night and the town was swinging - couldn't help but compare it to a night out in Brisvegas - nowhere close. Johhno, you were right - the Guinness is WAY better in Ireland. They must get a shock when they try the overseas version. Apart from the nightlife - Dublin doesn't seem to have too much going for it - there are no grand buildings or markets, the houses seem to be routinely grey with dark grey slate roofs.

I know this is starting to sound like world pub tour, but we went to the Jameson's distillery which was heaps of fun. Mick very quickly volunteered for the taste test at the end of the tour (see photo) which involved getting a taste of 4 Irish whiskeys, a scottish whiskey and bourbon. And yes, the Jameson's won.

We'll leave you with the news that Tim Henman has just been announced as the new spokesman for Viagra. The company says he is perfect for their company as he cant seem to get past a semi! (boom boom).
