Talking about noise pollution. Till late at night and starting early, I'm talking 5 am in the morning, if it isn't church-bells then it is some motorcycle, horse-drawn cart or car with speakers on top announcing who knows what.

I have a theory that every town in Mexico appoints people with the task to make sure everybody in town is awake at o-dark-thirty! And they don't have the audacity to doze off before midnight.

The elevation changes did not appear to be much on this stretch. But early morning temps were in the 60's, 70F by 7AM, 80F at 8AM and in the 90's by 9AM. We lingered at the hotel and now we were paying for it by cycling in the heat. Fortuitously, there were enough trees to provide shade during the rest stops. Traffic was steady and we had no shoulder to give us space from the vehicles. But the scenery with wetlands, coconut palms and peeks at the ocean now and then were fresh and exciting for us after having spent the recent months in the mountain highlands. None-the-less, we were happy to get into Puerto and be done for the day.

We arrived in Puerto and Dave parked Michelle near the top of a bluff then proceeded to check out many of the hotels and hostels in the Bahia Principal beach area. Places were already jacking prices up for the Christmas season and no place seemed decent without paying mucho. After an hour or more of searching, we decided to check the place near where Michelle was waiting, Cabanas Pepe. It wasn't fancy by any means but it was modestly priced, has wifi, great views, and is high up where the ocean breezes reach. To bad it took us so long to spot this place.
