As it turned out, our hotel was further away from Vegas than we had planned, 16 miles, our booking oversight. Oh well. On most days, we drove the 16 miles to the strip and limped on our sore legs around our favorite casino's, Bellagio, Paris, Caesar's Palace, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Luxor etc.

The weather was 60f-70f during the days and around 40's f at night.

By all means, don't go to Vegas if you're counting calories.  Foolishly, we justified our loss of diet control with the calories burned during the hike down the Grand Canyon! Our new favorite buffet, which we hit on the way out of town on Thursday, is at the new Hotel/Casino "M", in Henderson. It was not huge like some but the quality of the food and service was superior. Great sushi too!!  I was doing sooo good (calorie wise) until I decided on one "light" trip to dessert bar!! I can't recall what in particular made me lose control. But the next thing I knew, I had finished a creme brulee (to die for - by the way), a fruity creamy pastry (oh soo yummy), and an eclair (mmmm) and I was waddling out of the buffet, two fisted, with scrumptious Italian Glazee cones!!

We didn't go to any of the big shows this time around, just the 'Comedy at Improv' one night. The MC and two stand-up comedians gave us a few laughs.

We looked again at some homes for sale in the community we like. Prices have dropped over the past few years. Our dilemma remains. The homes with a view remain in demand (and above our budget). The non-view homes are available at good prices, but are too ordinary. If we were ready to get tied down to a new 'home, it would be more tempting.  We are not done with our traveling so we will remain 'homeless' knowing that our Santa Barbara home remains a safety net we can use when the time comes to really settle down.

We are still undecided about what to do after California. We will visit the kids in northern CA. And Dave still needs to take care of the car he left behind in Michigan. He wants to fly, pick it up, and make another, faster, cross-country trip back to CA and sell the car from here. STAY TUNED.
