They first drove us by a huge tree-the Costa Rican national tree-The Guanacaste Tree and it looks like una sombrilla (an umbrella). We then went to the parque nacional and walked around for a bit and we could see the Costa Rican Congress Bldg. from the park too.
We then spent some time at the zoo in the city-its really small and zoos just don't seem "right" after I've seen animals in Africa and since Costa Rica has tons of wildlife anyways...At the zoo we saw some spider monkeys (they were posing for us-not kidding) and some white faced monkeys (their actual name) and I learned that they're carnivores
After the zoo we went to the Natural History Museum...they have the largest collection of taxidermy in the area (maybe in central america???). Looked around for a bit but I found it creepy with displays upon displays of dead/stuffed animals.
We then drove to a jewelry factory/store and were told about Costa Rican symbols/gods that are often made into jewelry.
After that we went to the 'factory' where they make basically all the types of souvenirs that you will find anywhere. It had a huge store-basically like an outlet mall for 'craft/tourist goods' that you would normally find on a street. Finished up my 'gift shopping' there so now all I have to worry about is buying myself stuff! =)
Got home late and Letty (Leticia-mama tica) heated up some pizza for me.
