Chris had decided that he and his friend were going to do the walk at the very tip of the Coromandel Peninsula. Sandra wanted to do it too, and I didn't mind - the only thing I was worried about was the gravel road leading up there.
So we headed out, me leading the way, to Colville, the most northerly town in the Coromandel. The plan was just to drive and see how far we could go before I decided the roads were too bad to risk damaging Brid. I had just spent $200 on fixing him - I wasn't in the mood to spend any more!
Typically twisting, steep roads led us up to Colville, and I'd zoomed right through it before I even realised we'd got there. Chris, being a slow driver (ha, hi Chris!), caught up on the other side of the 'town' and we headed back to where we thought we'd seen a store
There was also a post office in Colville, and I went and sent some postcards and had my picture taken outside it. After so long in Auckland, I had some kind of culture shock about being in a place so small. According to Wikipedia, it only has a dozen houses. When we'd explored the town, we said bye to Chris and went our separate ways. Chris was headed back to Auckland when they'd finished in the Coromandel, although he promised to think about coming to East Cape with me...

Outside Post Office
. We had - it was the general store, which was also a petrol station, random health food store and tourist goods seller rolled into one. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to live in a town so small, with just the one store and a long drive before you hit anything resembling a decent shopping area.
