Hello - that's Singlish for Hello,

WOW, what a deep, pollution, chaos & poverty free breath of fresh air Singapore is. Bus's/trains all run on time, traffic jams are nonexistent, streets are clearly sign posted, buildings numbered, pedestrians no longer risk death or serious injury crossing roads & the only place for litter is the bin. Chewing gum & jay walking are illegal & fineable, $500 for not flushing a public toilet & a hefty $5000 for spitting - bring it on London! The mega malls are mega, intimidatingly vast leaving us exhausted & lost. Street sculpture is easily evident & amazing - Singapore is a City that is cared for by all & all are proud of her. Sight seeing choices are so many it's almost difficult to choose.

We managed nicely to balance out our yin & yang with an afternoon spent meandering around the Botanical/orchid gardens & as they say in Singapore "connecting plants with people" this really worked for Michael as he left a gardener! We've slinged back the mandatory Singapore sling in the Long bar, Raffles hotel in true Colonial opulence surrounding ourselves with our discarded peanut shells. Appeased my hunger for night time heights & lights, 165m above the cityscape on the Singapore 'flyer', the world's largest observation wheel. Spent an entire day at the zoo, marvelling at how few cages there are & saddened deeply at the very real reality that we are the animals biggest threat but yet we are their only hope - I feel despairing. We've dinned street side with the locals in 'little India' & 'China town', whilst exchanging travellers tales with friends we made in Africa & we've finished off at the theatre, wowed by the Chinese ballet - "A Shaolin Tale".

Tomorrow we're off to pound the pavements of Hong Kong before heading overland into China.

Keep in touch,
Lots of Love
