7 Days to go!!!
Well, after being kept dangling by our tour opertors for about 10 days or so now we finally were told yesterday that we won't now be starting off in Nairobi due to the troubles. Action stations then - Michael went off to STA to see our 'flight co-ordinator' in Birmingham and luckily between us we managed to orgainise a re-route to Dar Es Salam where we will pick up a connecting flight onwardly to Arusha in Tanzania. So we now fly on Saturday 19th January at about 6pm which is in fact a bit of a result as now we'll be taking a night flight. The Dar flight arrives at about 7am Sunday, we then pick up the Arusha flight at 2pm. We will get picked up at the airport and transported to our camp site for about 4pm, apparently this is only a 10 minute drive being the Meserani Snake Park Camp where the introduction briefing will take place - yep I said SNAKE PARK!! Sadly we now won't see the Masia Mara but on the upside is we will get another day/night in the Serrengeti and a couple of extra days in a Game Park named Tarangire National Park in Tanzania which we are told is awesome for game viewing.
As for the boring stuff, travel money, visas, etc we are nearly all packed and sorted, last minute rushes to adventure travel stores seem to have been very regular though. Michael can't help himself when faced with all the gadgets on offer - have decided to open our own 'Blacks' store when we return and will be holidaying at camping sites for the foreseeable future as we will need to get value and have a use for all the kit beyond this trip!
We'll be in touch again soon.

Hi there - well yes I'm v sad as I am sitting here marking the millionth assessment and you are counting down to travel the world!!also because Michael looks extremely dishy !!however I am not jealous that you will be in a camp site and near by a snake park! I'm very sad tho that I didn't get to see more of you before you go but do hope that I make up for misspent years by joining your blog - anyhow have a fab time- no doubts there- and keep me in touch. I have promised Nan Hart - who is in total disagreement with you '...gallavanting off..' to show her where you are each week and I will print off maps and blogs if I can.
Take care
