got up nice and early on my birthday for a morning stroll along the beach before jumping onto a collectivo to a local market.
no gringos in sight, just locals selling, fresh fish, meat, clothes fruits...
then headed back to the beach to enjoy the sun one last time in taganga.
spoke to a random irish guy who was sun bathing next to me...chatted whilst sitting in the shallow water til the sun was starting to set, when i went back to the hotel to pick up my rucksack before getting on the collectivo for santa marta, where i got the 5pm (last bus) to cartagena.
arrived pretty late at the bus terminal in cartagena and there were no buses.
ended up taxi sharing with two locals.
checked myself into "hotel holiday" back at the lovely getsemani area (hookers, drug addicts, dodgy characters...) and numerous people were chilling out in the courtyard.
a few familiar faces, which was nice.
after i dropped my rucksack on the bed in the dormitory, i was greeted with a happy birthday song (someone was playing the guitar anyway) and then i joined them for a few tokes and chatted (ended up chatting with an american guy called tray who like myself, loves food and would try pretty much anything...so great to meet people like that!!!).
crashed out but woke up early the next morning and went to tray's dormitoy to get him out for breakfast.
he told me that there was a little seafood booth nearby that sells cups of seafood cocktails...it was so good that he had it for breakfast, lunch and dinner once.
i've no problem with that so we went and had seafood for breakfast.
then we milled around town, ate more street food and later lunch, did a little shopping (poor guy was stuck in one particular jewellery shop with me...and there was power cut so it was baking hot and sweat was streaming down his face...felt bad!), and just enjoyed the colonial city (as it was also his last day before jumping onto a boat to panama the next day).
so now i will head off to the airport and catch my flight back to cali.
