Recovered and feeling GREAT!!!
Entry 22 of 39 | show all | print this entry |
since i wasn´t feeling too great (still) last night, i thought i´ll have something light for dinner. so i went into a little cafe place right next to the hotel (proper ecuadorian place with basic tables and benches, no english menu) and ordered a soup (no idea what it was other than it was the most expensive soup on the menu at USD2 and it´s called "yahuarlocro" which turns out to be a bowl of potato soup with lots of intestines and clotted blood (plus onions and a chunk of avocado...and i now know "yahuarlocro" means "soup of blood")!!!!! i don´t have a problem with that except i wasn´t feeling too well and it has a pretty strong taste! still, i ate most of it...just about.
woke up this morning feeling great (you only know the good when you´ve had it bad!!!)...it feels fantastic to have recovered from the soroche (could it be the "yahuarlocro"?!). the past 2 days has really drained me. did some basic stretching, had lunch and took a bus to a little town called cotapachi (about 15km from otavalo and is famous for its shops in leather goods). that place is DANGEROUS!!! i had to go back to the hotel in otavalo and get my credit card! just couldn´t resist buying (another) handbag and (another) rug! sh*t! they´ll have to be strapped onto my backpack for the next month and a half as i´ve already sent two parcels back to london (thank you so much "woman"!!!). i´m weak!!! anyway, i just couldn´t stop smiling like a nutter today (again, i have to reiterate how good it is to be healthy!) just thinking about places i have been to, people i have met (and people in my life in london, abroad, and back in hong kong), interesting/bizzarre events, talking to a friendly ecuadorian on the bus on the way back to otavalo...
