Hello to one and all! I cannot believe that it had been another week!
Time seems to go so quickly here, but then other times it seems like we have been here for years! I have finally gotten most of the peoples's names at the town church, but the village church is much more difficult because they don't all speak English! We have been through a long week this week, but we are all alive and walking again. Thank you to everyone who prayed for us!
After my last email, Leslie got sick on Saturday night with a stomach something and Daniel was feeling sick that night, too. Tate got sick on Sunday morning, so I drove him back home before church. Leslie was better on Sunday afternoon and we went with him to study with Josephine again. She and Leslie had a great conversation about baptism and it was so awesome to listen to their discussion, but she is leaving today (Friday) to go home because this is the beginning of a four week break for the school where she teaches. She will actually come back in to Alotau on the flight that we leave on! I cannot believe that we leave in four weeks! Monday came and no one was ill, so that was a relief. Luke and I went to Cameron school to do the last class on American culture. That was really the best class yet! They asked a lot of different questions and were much better about talking loud enough for us to hear them. All the people here talk SOOOOO quietly! I always feel bad when I have to ask them to repeat what they just said because they also get embarrassed very easily, but I cannot hear them! After that class we had an RI class there, too. Later that day we had a class with Marcus about their church planting here and it was really interesting to hear about their ups and downs and how they dealt with all of it. We also had a meeting about our Trobriand Island trip that is going to happen next week. We are going to do a survey trip that is supposed to help the missionaries know if and how to set up a church there. Our Australia part of the trip is also a slight problem. We decided to go with the train idea of transportation because we could get some really (really is a relative term) cheap tickets, but they have to be shipped to America because it is only for people from America. Thankfully there is a group coming over here in a few weeks that can bring them and Luke knows the guy in charge of the group coming; so we had them shipped to him.
Please pray that they will get to the guy and get to us!
Tuesday was the beginning of two long days! We were supposed to have a team meeting, but all the husbands were busy; so it was just Diane and Loopie and all of us interns. In the middle of the meeting Baylee got sick several times. Well, unfortunately that was just the beginning. Bethany got sick that afternoon, Tate got sick that afternoon, Rachel got sick that night and Lesley left for Port Moresby for a seminar he was supposed to give! Wednesday morning Loopie was sick and Logan got sick also! I was the only one still well in the house, but thankfully Susan, the lady that helps clean the house, came and helped! It was finally decided that Baylee and Bethany had malaria and the rest had a stomach virus. I still have not gotten sick, but now Luke and Daniel are not feeling well! We did get some stuff done, but most of it was being done by Luke, Daniel and me. We are in the middle of trying to get kids signed up for the youth camp we are going to be holding when we get back from the Trobriand Islands, so that is consuming most of our time. We, the interns, were also in charge of all the RI's this week, so Luke and I have done them all up until today. Thursday we had several meetings and Rachel and Bethany were getting better. After our camp meeting, we were supposed to take food to the hospital, but Daniel was not feeling well and Rachel and Bethany were still tired so they all went to take a nap. That only left Luke, Siggy and me to get four big boxes of fruit into the hospital after buying it at the market!
Well, we got to the house and Siggy really needed to finish something, so Luke and I went! Loopie needed the truck in ONE hour, so we had to hurry! It was nice that there were not many people in the market, but it was about to close so we had to hurry even more! We bought two big boxes worth of fruit and decided that we could not carry any more than that anyway and we just hoped that the hospital would not have too many patients! We were supposed to pick up Daisy, but thankfully she walked to the market and saw our truck. She helped us at the hospital and when we got to the hospital one wing was entirely empty!
That was so nice because I was really afraid that we would not have enough food for everyone. We gave it out and it came out exactly right!
We had one pineapple, 2 coconuts and a popo (papaya) left, so we just brought it back to the house. We did all that and got back to the house right on time! Leslie's plane got in and it has not rained during the day for the past two days! Our clothes have even dried on the line....which is really good since their dryer has died! Today I sewed some skirts for some of the kids that are going to be in a talent show at the International school. We are going out to eat tonight and I am very excited! Next week we are going to stay in the village from Monday-Wednesday (the 25th- 27th) and then leave for the islands on Friday and will not get back until the next Friday (the 29th- 6th)! I don't know if I will be able to get an email out next Thursday, but I will try! Please keep us all in your prayers during all that time. The family I am staying with in the village does not really speak English, so this could get really exciting! Thank you all again for your prayers and please continue to pray for us to be able to help the people here learn about God. Love you all!

Isn't God good!
I'm so glad you haven't gotten sick! It's just part of the experience, but some experiences just aren't that fun! I'll be praying that everyone there gets better. Isn't God being good to you though? I mean, I can definitly see it in your letter, and I'm sure you all can see it there. People got sick - but no one had to go to the hospital and He left just enough capable people well to get the jobs done. It sounds like He pretty much worked out everything for you at the market with the fruit that day. I can't wait to see pictures and hear more stories. Guess what? My mom got engaged. Oh, the drama :). I read a book called 'Cure for the Common Life'. I know you don't have anything anything close to a common life right now, but it's really good about helping you think about a career that you like, you're good at, and honors God. Anyway, have fun, stay well and safe, and I'll talk to you later.
