I hope this post finds all of you well! I guess school is in full swing now in the states? Time flies by in a slow way over here. The days seem slow (in a good way) but the weeks go by so quickly that I cannot believe that it has been a week since I have posted on here!
Monday was a very exciting day off! Hannah (one of the fifth graders) was baptized! We all hiked to a beautiful waterfall about twenty minutes outside of Kara. The mountains were all around and were so beautiful! They were all so completely covered with different shades of green with several different waterfalls. The one we hiked to was about a ten minute walk from where we parked the cars. It was amazing! Just like one of those waterfalls you see in pictures of Africa! Haha! All of the missionary families were there and several friends came also.
Preschool is in full swing this week. My little students are learning how to draw "X" and follow directions. Both of which are harder than you might think! They have almost mastered the ever complicated "X" and we are still working on following directions. Preschool goes until noon on Tuesday through Friday. The first two days of preschool were VERY rainy, but the past few days have been nice and dry! Rain means no PE with Daniel, but dry days mean PE and dodge ball for recess! Our classroom is outside of the main school house in a small building that thankfully does not get too hot until about 11:30 when we are almost done! The boys have almost learned the "Fruit of the Spirit" song (which is what we are studying in Bible) and are very proud of themselves! Coloring in the lines is another one of our hurtles that we are working on! I still teach the third grade vocabulary class right after lunch and the fifth grade history. The boys in third grade have even remembered their vocab words from last month! In history we are about to start learning about Japan. Since Abby's grandparents are in Japan right now she is really excited to get to host a party for her project this week!
The kids all think this is VERY funny, but now I have homework! As of Wednesday I am now a student again! Esawe, the French teacher for the kids, is teaching me French and a little Kabyie! All of those horrid years of Spanish are finally paying off! Not that knowing Spanish is helping me, but I do at least know about masculine and feminine nouns and other random things that romance languages do! I think that I am learning it...slowly but surely!
For the past few days I have been reading in the Bible about "patience." It is so easy to be sure that we are in the right and that the other person is wrong. If we are not willing to stop and re-examine ourselves and others through the magnifying glass of the Bible, and not our own ideas, then how can we say that were are being like Christ? Didn't God give us great examples throughout the Bible? Patience with ourselves and with others is something that I guess we all need to work on throughout our lives! It is so easy to expect of others what we would never want expected of ourselves!
I think this is the appropriate time for prayer requests! :) Please keep in your prayers Hannah as she starts her Christian walk! Prayers are always appreciated on my behalf as I try to convince kids that math, vocabulary, history and other subjects are important to know! Fuel is still scarce, but I think that it is getting better as there have been several bridges temporarily fixed. Thank you to all who have been praying for that, please keep it up!
I pray that all of you are well and are having a wonderful month! Thank you again for the messages! I hope that you all have a wonderful week!

Hello from Georgia!
Hey Becca,
I think ALL of us struggle with patience. Including myself:) Little bit of advice NEVER pray for it! That's one thing no one ever tells you not to pray for, because if you do...the Lord always sends an opportunity for you to learn:) lol
It's exciting to hear how much you are doing and learning in Togo. I know your parents are so proud of you and so am I. When are you due back in the states? We will pray that you're fuel situation gets better. It seems we will soon be in the same boat. With the hurricanes in the Gulf...
Well take good care of yourself. We love you!

Following your experiences
Hey Girl,
It's been fun to follow your experiences. Sounds like things are going well and that you are being challenged both in lots of ways.
When you have a chance, email me and I will write you back about our adjustments to our home-land culture after our stay in Greece.
You are always in my prayers....I'm proud of you!
