Okay, I take back what I said about the washing machine; it is just as evil as the other one. In conclusion, European appliances really are all pieces of shit. I had to individually translate each word on the machine using the internet until I found one that meant "dry". That's really how I wanted to spend my day.
Well, I guess the washing machine didn't matter since I didn't get up until way after 1 pm anyway. I woke up so late cause I was kept up by my mother and her boyfriend "ooooing and awwwwing" as the Eiffel Tower glowed and sparkled with strobe lights at like TWO IN THE MORNING.
I thought my mom had died when she wasn't awake that late in the day; turns out she was sick with a cold. Great way to start out our stay in Paris! There first escapade out was to go to the pharmacy. And that wasn't until after 3 o'clock! Even I didn't get out until they came back and we went out together. Unfortunately I was unable to go to the Musee Du Branly because they didn't get back in time >_< (it's across the street from our flat).
Instead, we walked the short distance to the Eiffel Tower and I'll say, THAT THING IS AWESOME. It's huge! It's way bigger than I expected and just standing at its base was just such an awing experience. You really have to come to Paris to see that if you haven't already!
After that, we walked through the park stretching away from the base of that gigantic thing. It was quite pretty; the tall trees were cut like hedges and people were lounging about on the green lawn. There were even areas for basketball, football (soccer), and playgrounds for kids.
Upon exiting the park, we entered the typical city area again. By this time, my mother was hungry so we found a little Italian restaurant on Avenue Bosquet called Pizza Tina. As lame as it sounds, it was actually really good.
We were thinking about looking for Rue Cler, which supposedly had a lot of cool food and shops. Mom had kind of crashed and we didn't think it would be that exciting, so instead we headed back to the flat. That was around 8.
I spent a while trying to convince Jeff to move to France using a properties magazine. Then, Canada. It was rather amusing. We also watched TV until my mom woke back up from the dead. I swear, sometimes she really looks dead while sleeping.
And that was the end to a semi wasted day =( God only knows when I'll fall asleep since it isn't completely dark until after 10:30.
Something I learned today: French people don't understand modesty (aka window with no curtain in shower -_-) Those extra towels came in handy as curtians.
